This product is very easy to use. You simply cut out the size you want and place it where you need it. But no matter how many times I rinse or soak it before putting it in the tank, it releases massive amounts of black dust and lint everywhere. It becomes a chore when you have to constantly remove the tank decal to get rid of the black dirt everywhere. Because of this, I would not recommend using it as a replacement for the off-the-shelf carbon cartridges that are needed in many tanks, as I have done. Even trying to put it in a fine-mesh pouch didn't stop him from releasing bits of himself over and over and over again.
