Review on Polaroid Shutter Release Timer Remote Control: Perfect for Nikon D90, D3100, D3200, and More Digital SLR Cameras by Michael Gonzales

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for time lapse and long exposure control

The purpose of my purchase was a star trail photo/video but it works great for all types of time lapse videos. You can control the number, time and duration of the exposure of photos. You can set the exposure time or let the camera do it. For daytime shots, I usually set focus and metering and let the camera use them for the entire burst to avoid the flash effect that sometimes occurs, but sometimes I just let the camera do its job with autofocus and matrix metering. At night I set the ISO "film speed" on the camera and use the "shutter speed" on the remote control to control exposure time. can be requested directly from your camera. I have a Nikon D5100 which complements this beautifully. You can control long exposures much more precisely because the exposure resolution is 1 second. That might seem like a lot, but if you're talking about long exposures, I've found that sometimes the difference between 5 and 6 seconds can mean the difference between something underexposed and something perfect. My only complaint and it didn't make me give it a 4 star rating other than that there is no on/off switch (sort of). You just leave the batteries there. They seem to last several months so I guess it's not a big deal but I'd still prefer to have them.
