Best wiring harness for 2001 Ford Taurus when adding an aftermarket head unit

I was very confused looking at replacing my 2001 Ford Taurus SES with an aftermarket panel and spent hours searching forums to read how this setting is made. . After about 4 hours of fiddling I was able to install everything completely and now it looks amazing! Here are some tips that helped me understand this setup (because it's different from almost every other type of car): - On the 2000-2003 Ford Taurus, they have the antennas and the "brains" of the stereo in the trucks installed driver's side under the floor mats. ' harness and plug the 9-pin adapter into the one that used to be connected to the 'brain'. Next comes the fun part: extend the snap profile along the floor on the driver's side and route the wiring harness under the back seat behind the driver, along the frame and up into the space where the gas and brake pedals are. Wrap a few extra zip ties around the wire to secure it somewhere on the frame to keep the wires from coming loose. Now the easiest way is to connect all the aftermarket wires to the Metra Dashboard Kit 99-5716 and the other end. the wire harness you just ran through the car. If your secondary platform has wires that don't match the wires on the wiring harness and dash, just cover them up and you won't be using them. I used butt connectors and a crimping tool from a hardware store that costs about $35 for the tool and splices. Hope this helps someone. I've spent too much time analyzing this project. You MUST route the wiring harness and antennas from the trunk to the master unit in the dash. It's impossible to avoid.
