Press the buttons to set the desired temperature. The shaft is made of titanium, which heats up quickly and evenly and easily affects the hair. Cable rotates 360 degrees. And the iron has an auto shut off feature which I really need. I can curl my hair quickly. I love the pearl design, I find it helps me get smoother curls. I found it easiest to hold the barrel upside down and wrap the hair around the barrel from root to bottom. Depending on the style and how long I leave the curl on the heating drum, this creates bouncy curls and loose waves. To avoid heat damage to my hand, I wear the cloth glove that came with the kit on my hand, which I use to wrap my hair around the wand. The only thing I would have liked would have been for the barrel to be longer to evenly wind up long hair. It will be a good gift - packed in a beautiful box. All in all a nice functional rose gold curling iron that works well I would recommend!
