This cam lock did not work at all, good thing they have free returns. Installation wasn't as easy as I expected either. At first I just tried glue but my 3 year old just pushed the lever and the top latch released instantly and he was able to open the door. Then I tried the screw method. The panel behind part of the lock stayed in place, but when he shifted his entire weight (30 pounds) to the door handle, the cover containing the lock immediately came loose and he was able to open the door. I was hoping this lock would work from the outside of his bedroom door but you can open it from the other side so consider hanging this lock on the inside of his bedroom door where a child can play around with it. Even if he weren't physically able to pry it off, I think he'd soon realize that all you had to do was move the deadbolt from the down position to the up position to open the door. Will return. I would like to try another lock with good reviews. I try a simple velcro door lock from the hardware store on the outside of his next door. If that doesn't work I can try rearranging the handles so they snap on the outside, or get new round handles and use child locks on the ones that work fine (with tape around them).
