Mine do not light up like some other pics people posted from outside light. However how they hang on the rod lets light in at the top. If you get the longer ones and make sure they are mounted a good amount above and below the window it will limit this somewhat. I ordered these for small windows. and the grey for the larger windows. Previous people already had mounts in place or I would have hung higher. Works pretty well for me. They are not heavy and if you have a floor fan they will blow open a bit. so either weights or roll up a dowel in the bottom and should hang steadier. They are not sheer sheer, pattern on one side. Mine looked good. Not tried to wash yet so cannot say how that will go. So not completely ideal and if you worked 3rd shift you will want to add something more to keep all light out most likely. I am sure there are much better ones out there, but I paid about 9 bucks a set on these for this color. Cannot complain for the price.
