Review on Yamaha NS SW100BL Powered Subwoofer Black by Jagvir Singhtakhar ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

A little bit not what I expected, generally fine.

I took to replace the Edifier S530D for a computer (games). Works in tandem with the Yamaha RX-V385 receiver and Ultimate Sym1 shelf speakers. It sounds good at medium volume (the volume level is set in the middle), there are no overtones or rattles (I drove it with a tone generator). At high volume (-20dB and above), it starts to choke, the lack of power affects. I would not recommend it for listening to music, there is no reserve, but for games it is quite good. What is really missing is the auto-off function in the absence of a signal, despite the fact that the on / off button is located at the bottom at the back, this is really inconvenient. The front mesh grille is non-removable, it has rather poor bevels, but this is a matter of taste. Bottom low rubber feet, stands evenly, does not sway. The radiator is missing. 3 out of 5

Pros
  • + speaker 25cm + frequency characteristics + good sound + relatively inexpensive
Cons
  • - no auto shutdown - on/off button and volume control on the back - Weak at high volumes - no adjustments
