Great heater. I've bought them in the past for a standard tank heater in my basement. I prefer ViaAqua heaters because they are metal and not easily broken by careless aquarists. Unfortunately I lost all of my aquarium supplies in a flood a few years ago and when I decided to reinstate my aquarium I had to buy another one. I've never had a single failure and I've had several because of my hobbies. I highly recommend this type of heater. Plus, setting the temperature is super easy - just plug it in, press the button until you get your desired temperature (e.g. 74) and it works all night. If you want to DECREASE the temperature you have to keep pressing the button until it reaches the highest temperature (84 I think) and then it goes down to the lowest setting or whatever temperature your aquarium is currently at. Hope that helps.
