When it comes to car care, I'm stubborn and tend to stick to the "line" of products (Menzerna polishes, CarPro cleaners and paints, etc.). However, there comes a time from time to time when I experiment with a range of new products. I've always stuck to the original Rain-X for windows and Menzerna Power Lock for wheels, and I mostly trust German brands (Sonax, P21S, Menzerna) for my paint. OptiSeal on Wheels: I wanted something less "waxy" than Menzerna PowerLock to apply to my wheels. OptiSeal is indeed a washable product and is concentrated which makes sense for this application. I actually put this on my wheels when they were removed from the car and they were better than ever at picking up water and fighting BMW brake dust. The rims now wash easily with soap and water which has saved me money instead of using a bottle of Sonax rim cleaner every month. It appears to be a fairly heat resistant product. Before applying, make sure to wipe down the wheels with rubbing alcohol to remove any residue or oils and give the best possible grip. Glass: This is where this product really shines. I removed the tried and tested rain-x from the glass with clay, normal glass cleaning and a final wipe with pure 91% alcohol. Here, too, OptiSeal offers the best hold. I applied it in straight lines with a foam applicator. It left a few small streaks, but nothing sinister; If this happens to you, simply buff gently with a dry microfiber cloth. Most of the sealant will become transparent and smooth to the touch immediately after drying. In terms of water repellency, drops start beading off the glass at around 30mph - 10mph earlier than the Rain-X, and unlike the Rain-X, the wiper blades leave no streaks. Just clear, calm, homogeneous water and a film. So far I'm most impressed with OptiSeal on glass. Color: This is not my favorite color product to be honest. I've only used it once on my girlfriend's car and it leaves a hard lollipop like reflection. However, on dark colors it will leave lighter streaks than most sealants if you use too much. It's a minor note, but that's why I prefer sealers that require abrasion and longer curing times. If you plan on using this on paint, just make sure you use it sparingly. This leads to excellent results. I have had an 8 ounce bottle for a long time now and it will last me for several months. A little product goes a long way and protects and adds shine. All in all a great product, easy to use and good value. Try it.
