On my HP laptop, this has extended my laptop's desktop, but when you connect two external monitors (1 HDMI, 1 VGA), the two external monitors are mirrored. I wanted to have three independent monitors, one on my laptop and two external monitors. These products don't, at least not on my HP laptop (Win10). I have since bought a newer model that supports three independent monitors (2 HDMI ports). This does exactly what I need. Everything that was said worked great. I plugged it in and connected a monitor, USB mouse and keyboard, and USB external hard drive and it worked. It's very small and light and is powered by your laptop's USB-C port, so just plug it in and you're good to go. As others have said, I wish the USB cable permanently connected to the hub was longer.
