I charged it outdoors in the Florida sun for 2 days. It rained for hours on both days, as usual, but there are still hours of full sun in Florida. They never caught fire, not once. I thought I had defective ones but before sending it back I decided to check the battery. I opened the back (4 screws in the corners, very easy) and the box was FULL OF WATER. I poured out the water, charged the battery separately in a small charger, dried everything, then put everything in a box full of silicone beads (do you keep them away from food in case your electronics get wet?). After sitting in silicon balls for 24 hours I put the battery back in and it lit up again. Most importantly, there is a FREE silicone plug that falls out when you pull out the back. If you lose this you will never be waterproof. This seals the place where the wires come out of the circuit board inside. So when you remove the back cover, LOOK FOR THIS PLUG and make sure you plug it back in. If not, you can just throw everything away. They are beautiful. Now they work great. They are 2 stars because there is no reason a consumer should restore a purchase after purchase unless instructed to do so. It was damp inside due to poor build quality. If yours stops working for some reason, take it apart and check if it's damp in the box and the silicone plug isn't seated properly like mine.
