When I received this product I was so excited to finally have two beta fish in an aquarium that I don't have to maintain on a weekly basis. I received my tank quickly and started assembling it. The instructions weren't for my specific product, but I was able to find out. As I placed my two beta fish on their assigned sides, I found that they could see each other through the black divider with holes all around. At first I raved about a nice tank, and then they started fighting each other. I had to improvise, so I put plastic on either side of the baffle so they wouldn't catch on each other. Because of this, the design should not show through. One pinched the other, but they were fine. They looked fine after I put the plastic in the tank, so I went about my work. When I came back to check them out I noticed the filter was starting to suck on the tail of my beta fish. Before I could knock him out, he had already retracted part of his tail. I had to reach out and free his cock from the filter after turning him off, which broke his cock. Not much, but enough to swim belly up. I put him in a separate tank until with some guidance and eventually over time he was able to swim on his own again. Now I'm afraid to put any fish on that side of the filter, which defeats the purpose of a filter tank with a separator between two fish. It could have been a one time thing but I paid good money for my fish and took good care of them and I don't want the filter to kill them. I hope this review helps. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone. I had a bad taste in my mouth.
