I needed a laptop stand for neck/back pain. I bought Nextstand and Roost2 (which Nextstand is based on). I'm still waiting for Rust to arrive so can't compare at this time. First impressions of the Nextstand: + my laptop's screen-side base is raised 11 inches at max setting + it helps - the raised screen has a big impact on neck comfort + it's portable - the sand isn't tiny, but it's light and the The stand folds compact enough to fit snugly in a backpack. I would take it on a plane etc with no problem. + The build quality is acceptable so far. The stand itself feels a little flimsy when you handle/move it and for that reason I'm suspicious of how long it will last. However, I haven't had any stability issues with my 15-inch MBP resting on a stand on a table. When I press on the touchpad (or your screen if your laptop has a touchscreen) the laptop might rotate a bit and when I lift the laptop it detaches from the stand, but neither of these points is a problem in normal use + the Price is great, although even if you pay full price for Roost, the cost is irrelevant as long as you can avoid the effects of poor posture on your neck and back (think the effects of pain, the cost of a single visit to a physical therapist , Physician). , chiropractor, MRI etc. ) some other observations: + an external keyboard is required. Expect to be able to type anything useful on your laptop while it's on the stand + You can't close your laptop while it's on the stand. It might not matter as I was able to adequately close the screen on both low and high settings. Activating the lock screen + putting the laptop up and down is a bit awkward, having to constantly readjust the height can be annoying, but it's okay if you only adjust it once per use. Overall - for $25 this can be a great option if you need a laptop stand that can travel and are on a budget or want to try this style. get up and see if it works for you. If you work hard with your gear or are focused on build quality then you should look elsewhere, perhaps Rust who originally designed this style of stand.
