I originally bought the WSTA3 over fifteen years ago and it worked flawlessly until it breathed its last this year. I replaced it with another WSTA3 without hesitation. It heats up within 30 seconds, even when working outdoors in windy conditions, and does an excellent job soldering wires up to 10 ga. The interchangeable tips are a plus, as is the micro burner and hot air heads. I use it all the time for auto work where I can't get power for my Weller portable soldering station, and I also use a heat gun for heat shrink joints in hard-to-reach places. I had no problem working three hours on a full butane gas tank, even working outdoors in the winter. Refills are available at any place that sells cigarette lighter refills; The fill valve in the pyropene tank is universal and you don't have to pay extra for butane "Weller-Brand" - Ronson, et.al. Works great. The auto-ignition feature on the otherwise identical Weller WPA2 iron is a nice luxury, but be aware that you're paying another $16 for the convenience and you don't get the protective steel case or extra WPA2 torch parts that you get with the WSTA3. I don't know about you, but I think a protective cover is a must for a working iron, and I can buy many Bic lighters for sixteen bucks.
