Review on πŸ”Œ Brand-New OEM 140 Amp Fuse for Part Numbers 90982-08286, 9098208286, 2437079920 - Model MU840042 by Jeffrey Sanders

Fixed my silly mistake that caused the 2002 Sienna alternator to arc on the positive wire.

I was replacing my generator outside when a neighbor distracted me while I was in the process of unplugging the wiring. I forgot to disconnect the negative battery lead from the battery and then when I disconnected the positive lead from the alternator it hit the case and arced with a loud bang from the built in 140 alt fuse. I put that fuse in there and thank heaven nothing else was damaged and the blown fuse did the job. As a side no. If you're doing what I did but in the middle of nowhere and need to build it in case of an emergency to get out of the woods, you can remove the plastic cover from the fuse and press down on the two copper plates so they are touch, then crumple up a small piece of paper and press it into the fuse cavity to hold the two copper plates together. If the fuse blew due to user error not removing the negative cable before working on the generator and there is no other reason for the fuse to overload, this should help you not destroy your electrical system. JUST MAKE SURE THE TWO COPPER PLATES ATTACH AND DO NOT COME TOGETHER WHILE RIDING. IF YOU REVERSE, YOU WILL LOSE ALL PERFORMANCE OF THE VEHICLE! I've found that a piece of paper clamped into the fuse as tightly as possible, along with maybe some tape holding it in place for extra care, is enough to get it working, providing nothing else is burned.
