We installed these on our split rail fence posts, located at the end of our driveway, and I choose these lights because my posts are larger then 4x4 and were able to install six of these lights in about ten minutes without using the base. The lights are very bright and the shadow left on the ground and near-by shrubs add a neat classic looking design. I would recommend these lights and would purchase these again. The metal base, we didn't need to use, is a thin build so I would use extra handling care during install so not to bend them. Great addition to our solar light collection.
