I used this to hang an iPad mount from the ceiling in front of a treadmill. I use it in combination with a shorter arm and a double ball to connect them. This allows me to adjust it at almost any angle, allowing me to position it exactly where I want it. I can then use my iPad to watch Netflix, Revain Prime, etc. while running. It distracts me from the pain of running. Of course, we all know that treadmill running is worse than running outdoors. Keep in mind that when used with an iPad mount, the ball needs to be squeezed fairly hard. This is good because it keeps the device secure. The bad news is that any fine-tuning on the fly is almost impossible without loosening up the ball first. Of course, you can't do that while running. In general a good buy.
