Not entirely waterproof and hard-to-press buttons, but otherwise a good tool

The first unit I bought was practically unusable because the buttons were so hard to press that I had to use the Could not change display input or setting set the device on. The manufacturer promptly sent a replacement, explaining that they had changed the design (although I didn't see anything different and assumed it was internal) to maintain the product's water resistance and improve button performance. I installed this device on my motorcycle's fuel tank. While I still had to press the replacement device's buttons very hard for it to accept my input, I didn't mind because the device actually worked and performed a unique function that no other reasonably priced device had. . Point. I did a 5,000 mile bike ride this summer and the device initially served me well, but the lens fogged up from internal moisture after the first rain I encountered, making it very difficult to read. Unlike the other aftermarket sensor I use for the fuel mixture, which also fogs up when wet (it doesn't claim to be waterproof), this one clears very, very slowly as the lens inside fogs up. Also, on this trip, the buttons became so cramped that the device became virtually unusable. I don't know if moisture getting into the device will cause the buttons to fail, so I can't say how long they will work properly in a dry environment. I would recommend this device to anyone who wants to use it in a dry environment, but for those who need a device that can withstand direct exposure to rain, I would advise you to look further. Too bad because otherwise it's a great meter for the price (the attached photo was taken after the unit had dried out for a few days. By this point most of the moisture inside the lens has gone but there is still enough to seal it render the device unusable as you cannot see the display unless you are looking at it from the right angle and looking under the water instead of through it.)
