Yes the bristles are shorter than the photo but the bristles are about an inch not a centimeter (at least for me) and in my experience in OK, the finishing brushes aren't as long as the hard brushes anyway, so that makes sense to me. They are nice and soft and well filled with bristles. I think it will work fine and my horse will love it. Like any other product, it is machine made. If your bristles fall out, please request a replacement due to failure. If it's a reputable company, there's a good chance it's an anomaly.
