The device worked perfectly until the first attempt to charge the battery, then it didn't charge and is now unusable. Soldering iron, I was able to fix mine. There are four screws on the bottom, and inside the wire from the battery is soldered due to very poor soldering. I was able to re-solder this connection and bring the scale back to life. It's a nicer scale than most I've used, they just seem to have some quality control issues that need to be addressed.
