We tried one of these about 10 years ago and didn't have much luck with it so we switched to a Makita equivalent in our shop. We run two mills, mostly quite intensively two to three times a week. Here is the experience with two Makitas in the last 5 years and now again with Dewalt in the last 6 months: Makita: I would say they usually last 4-6 months before giving up. 1 year warranty so I used it for a year. always went smoothly. Reason: It was ALWAYS either a β¬15 box (mostly just due to frayed cables which I fixed a couple of times before it got too hard) or a β¬13 switch. These are the ONLY things I have had to replace in the last 5 years. This Dewalt: We bought it 9 months ago and it's already had 4 trips for repairs. About half of that time was downtime because while we've never had a problem getting the warranty through, it seems they take 3-4 weeks to get it back. I think our record blew 1 week after returning from warranty. Every time they say they replaced the $32 FITTING ASSEMBLY and sometimes the switch and brushes. So with the warranty running out in a few months, I'll have to spend $32 every few months to keep this thing running. It also gets a lot hotter than the Makita under heavy use, which is likely to burn them out. At first it seemed so promising and smooth.
