I've been wearing compression stockings for about a year and a half and I still only wear Jobst Brand Active socks. So that's about all I can really compare these socks to. Jobst socks are between $60 and $65 a pair, so I looked for something cheaper. I find these Compression Z socks a bit thin. I think they go well with dress shoes, but I have to wear composite safety shoes every day to work. These socks tend to be a bit slippery in my safety shoes. Before I had to wear compression stockings, I wore Gold Toe socks made from a synthetic cotton blend. The Jobst brand compression stockings I usually wear are the same thickness. Then why did I deduct a star? After the first wash, the socks roll down a bit in the heel area. This leads me to believe they won't last long. Regarding the size, the size Large felt a bit big to me. I wear size 11.5 on ASICs and size 11 on Ariat boots. I have to roll up the top of my socks about an inch or they come up halfway to the knee. I was able to easily pull the heel of the sock up to my ankle so definitely a little big. For reference, my calf measures 15-1/2" at its widest point and measures approximately 13-1/2" from ankle to knee. So it really comes down to what you want from a compression stocking. I'll stick with the Jobst brand.
