Review on 🎵 Douk Audio G5 100W Bluetooth 5.0 Dual Channel Amplifier Mini Digital Class D Stereo Audio Power Amp Wireless Receiver (Black) by Richard Gilbert

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My first thoughts are: amp

I got this little amp today so I didn't have time to play with it. I've used Lepai before so I can do a little comparison. First a caveat: I'm not a music lover, I just listen to music sometimes. I paid full price for the amp. I use it with a pair of Pioneer SP-BS22 AJ bookcases. As source I use my TV, iPhone/iPad or FiiO X3ii media player. So here's my first impression: Pro: The sound is good. I don't think there is much difference between this and Lepay. They use the same chip 3116. Compact size. He's really small. Super simple - all it has is a controller. beautiful appearance. Much better than the ugly Lepay. And the douk also has rubber feet. One of the main reasons I switched: it comes with a very decent power supply. It's 19V 4.74A, so it has enough power to be very loud! In comparison, Lepai comes with a power supply of 12V, 3A. Bluetooth. That is the main reason for the change. I mainly use the amp with my TV, but sometimes I need to connect my phone to bluetooth to hear the surround sound. It has no tone controls. For me it's a pro because I don't want tone controls. This makes the circuit easier and I never use it anyway. You might see that as a disadvantage - then just take the G3 model with tone controls. The support staff were actually very nice and helpful when I asked a few questions before purchasing the amp. Cons: Bluetooth sound quality is significantly worse than wired. Even I can hear with no problem. I think that's to be expected. No AptX support. It's not a problem for me because I use Apple devices and they don't support AptX anyway. They list AAC somewhere, but I don't know if it's true and I don't know how to check. The weird thing is that you can't disable Bluetooth. When you connect a BT device, the amp will play from the device even if the line is connected. And the BT connection is always active. So you need to manually disconnect all devices from BT to play from the line. Can be tricky when using multiple devices. What worries me even more - what if you leave the device on and your neighbor or someone else connects to the BT and plays whatever they want? There is no password or anything like that. I hope that doesn't happen. Also, I would have preferred a power switch so I could turn the amp on and off without turning the knob. Although I really don't care. Overall, this is a good device and does what it promises. I recommend trying it out if you need something similar. Just understand the limitations. I'm giving it 5 stars at the moment mainly because the amp delivers everything I hope for from it.

Pros
  • delivery was very fast
Cons
