A big improvement over the standard TYT UV-8000E "long" antenna which is about 1.5-2" shorter than this SRH77CA, I received horribly crazy ones SWR readings over 4.4+ on VHF with a standard 10w antenna, with this antenna I get closer to 1.5 on VHF and 1.21 on UHF Reception is a bit compared to the stock UV-8000E bad but I feel like the antenna was tuned to receive rather than transmit which is why it had such poor SWR Feels good, barrel is good, long, thick, doesn't fill the antenna hole on my UV-8000E all out but seems to screw tight and flat The antenna is very flexible and bends but when bent into a wide U it tilts a bit unlike some other antennas that just snap back which is frustrating since I wanted it to fit in my motorcycle bag St. without taking it off again and again, but I don't think it will survive after that. ng without breaking. The price is high compared to the competition in Nagoya from a real dealer and while I don't have a 771 to compare it to (yet) (and will fix it if/when I do), I doubt I have well worth the extra money that being said, it's "easier" to find a male version of this antenna as opposed to the 771 which actually comes from a reputable dealer here at Revain. The antenna is of course too big for your radio. if you wear it, but I don't see why it wouldn't be a good antenna for a radio attached to a backpack/backpack/sling instead. I bought this antenna with the idea that I would attach it to this radio that I wanted to keep at home or in my car, rather than as my "portable" radio, but I realized that a true "portable" radio was a little more useful. So it's just some kind of fantasy and "because I can" I think. An ideal antenna for those not using a base station and just want to be able to sit around their house and connect to one of their local repeaters, assuming they put out 5 watts or more of true forward power. As an aside, when testing this antenna, holding it at 10 watts for 10-15 seconds did noticeably heat the base. According to my measurements, this is a more efficient antenna for transmission. It would be 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact that it costs around $30 at the time of writing, it doesn't handle flexing like others, and its reception isn't as fantastic as promised. I will change if my mind changes! Attached is a photo of my SWR/power meter for VHF/UHF at simplex frequencies that I found for free to test.
