Surface preparation is key

I've done a lot of research and this product supports the claim that you can install solar panels without holes. I am satisfied with the product, it is durable and well made. It looks like it has enough surface area for the glue. I will add that they are hollow and would have a better grip if they weren't. The instructions seem to be wrong. So in my research I found out that 3m VHB tape 1# was install without drilling. So I used 3m VHB 4950 tape, Sikaflex and Eterna Bond tape to hold it. Also natural alc. And sandpaper or surface preparation. Surface preparation is key, you must have a good clean surface for good adhesion. If I could do it again I would do better surface prep. My first mistake was screwing the legs to the panel before it was on the roof (I'm glad I didn't press the VHB or Sikaflex legs to the panel.) My roof had a slight pitch so had to I remove some of the legs and screw some on to get all legs flush with the roof for maximum connection. Feet on roof panels. I put vhb tape on the bottom of all the legs. Clean the roof, let it dry, mark corners, remove vhb adhesive tape, mount sikaflex, press and seal. Let it dry and cure then as an extra precaution I added some Eternabond tape to keep the material strong. Also of note is that my panels were attached to the leg mount when installed, so I was unable to seal the backs of the legs. I will only use a spray sealant like Flex Seal on the inside.
