Loki, my Siberian Husky, died in late September 2018. He was 12 years old and I fed him Diamond Naturals Adult Dog Dry Food, Beef Rice Formula, 40 lb Bag for about a year . The last bag I bought was on June 18th. He developed a tremor in his hind legs which I assumed was due to his age. And one day he started walking sideways like a drunk. I took him to the vet and they said it was probably vestibular syndrome but gave me a shot of antibiotics just in case. He got an infection because something got warm. His condition worsened and he also had problems with bowel movements. I gave him a wormer. It got to the point where he could barely stand or walk and he was losing weight rapidly. I checked if there was a review of his meal. The vet recommended him some enzymes to help him digest, absorb nutrients and gain weight and I started adding canned food to get him to eat but he continued to lose weight quickly and only ate half a can wet food. food per day and did not touch the dry food. In the end he could not move his hind legs at all and dragged himself. I ended up putting him to bed, which was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, but he didn't get better and he suffered. I never thought it was bad/mold food. I have given my son the leftover bag of food for his dogs and he told me tonight that he has been slowly introducing it to his 2 dogs for a week and now they don't touch it, they have diarrhea, tremors, they are acting sluggish and strange . . Now I'm pretty sure it was probably a bad batch of dog food. Unfortunately my son didn't keep the bag so I don't have tracking numbers and expiry dates. But it was purchased on June 18, 2018, around the same time as the other complaints. I never found the food moldy or bad. I didn't see any visible mold (I picked up the top of the bag and clipped it shut and kept it in my bedroom) but thought I should mention it in case anyone else has this issue. My dog is worse. fast, and it might have been that food that killed him. I never thought it could be his food. I have trusted the brand and he has always loved it in the past. Now I feel terrible because he suffered a lot and it was probably me who forced him to eat moldy/poisoned food. Do you keep complaining about bags being opened and sealed with tape? Did Diamond know there were complaints about mold and checking bags, or worse, removing moldy pellets and partially refilling the same bags that still contained toxic spores? If you suspect this food has harmed or killed your dog, speak up!
