Review on Razer Kaira Wireless Gaming Headset Xbox Retro Gaming & Microconsoles by Michelle Linares

Be careful with limitations when using Bluetooth

This review is of the Razer Kaira Pro. (The Pro version has Bluetooth, but the regular version doesn't.) I'm not a music lover and don't make Bluetooth calls, so I can't comment on those aspects. Having said that, I think these headphones are pretty good no matter what. I made sure to update the firmware before using it. Going wireless is a game changer. Don't worry about the headphone cable sticking out of the controller anymore. I play about 1-2 hours every day and only charge it once a week. At the end of the week the battery is around 60%. (The battery level decreases as the battery ages) When you connect to Bluetooth, the battery level is reported to your phone. The Bluetooth function is very convenient for listening to music. This is especially useful for casual games where there is no soundtrack or you don't like it. For example, I use the Bluetooth feature to listen to music while playing Dirt 5 (a racing game). I can adjust the volume on my phone and headset to get the best balance between music volume and Xbox volume. To the left of the headset is a small knob for adjusting the volume and another knob under the right for adjusting the chat mix. The Chat Mix slider is used to control the balance between Xbox game volume and Xbox party chat volume. I rarely use the Xbox party chat though, so I use the chat mix controls to tweak the Xbox game volume. I had no complaints about the Xbox Party chat voice quality. The microphone is detachable and has a fairly hefty piece of foam attached to it. If you don't like the colors on the sides (and maybe want to save battery), there's a headset fitting app you can download to your Xbox. to turn off the lights and play around with the equalizer settings. I only used it to turn off the light as I don't like it. Some quirks: - Turning on the headset turns on the Xbox and there's no way to avoid this unless you unplug the power from your Xbox. Don't turn off your Xbox while it's in Instant-On mode. If it's in Instant On mode, you'll need to turn it off completely via the Settings/Power Options menu. - The headset turns off automatically when you turn off your Xbox. - The USB-C charging port is slightly recessed, so not everything fits into USB-C cables. The headset box includes a braided USB-C cable. However, the USB-C cable and charger that came with my Pixel 3 phone works. I'm not usually a huge Razer fan as I think their products don't last long but I hope Razer has improved since I last bought something. from them.
