Review on Club Champ Automatic Putting System by Michael Zambrano

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Much prefer the SKLZ version to this product! (I have both)

Don't buy this. Buy the SKLZ version instead. A few months ago I bought the SKLZ version which was amazing. Then I wanted a second one for the office. I saw this one and saw from the pictures that it's basically the same as the SKLZ product. It's not even close. The SKLZ version returns the ball to the right side of the putting surface, ideal for right-handers. A slight shoveling motion from the face of the racquet brings it back onto the field. Club Champ returns the ball from the left side, so you kind of have to awkwardly flick the back of your racquet and then I kind of kick it in with my foot. - The SKLZ version almost always returns the ball. Way back to the front of the putting surface. Club Champ only returns the ball a short distance, so you have to get close to the ball to get it. Not a big deal if you only want to hit 5 balls or so, but quite annoying if you practice as long as I have. With the SKLS version, I can send the ball in the hole and while it's back up the ramp I'm already throwing another ball. I can do this literally indefinitely. It is only limited by my commitment to continue doing so. And I never have to move. - The SKLZ version returns the ball very quickly. I think maybe because the platform with the hole where the ball hits is a bit higher. Anyway, Club Champ just takes its time. I wasn't able to make Club Champ's interface completely smooth. I tried everything I could think of, from books to heavy records. It just never really flattens out, so it's not certain if the miss was caused by the trajectory of the turn or the bumpy road the ball fell on. When I first got the SKLZ version it was also a bit uneven but after a few days it became perfectly smooth and I haven't tried all the techniques I have this time. The pavement area of SKLZ is MUCH wider. . I think this might also be why I found it easier to achieve a perfectly flat surface. As an added bonus, the SKLZ version has measurement markings. Pretty obvious in the photos so I'm not telling you anything you don't know. But I didn't think it mattered to me, but I can tell you that labeling is preferable now that I have both. I always try to spend as little as possible and still get quality. This is an example where the extra cost for the SKLZ version is really worth it. I will order another version of SKLZ to replace this one. By the way, I use Scotty Newport 2.5 and practicing with the SKLZ putting system has really improved my putting skills. Happy putting! Alex
