I have a 1999 Jeep Cherokee Classic and bought these hooks about 2 months ago. If you've ever looked under the front of a Cherokee, there's absolutely nothing to hang on unless you can get to the front axle, which is why I bought these hooks. Anyway, when I received them the first thing that struck me was the weight. It's a fairly heavy set of hooks so it gave me some confidence that I bought a good pair. There are no instructions for it, but it's pretty easy to understand. It's easy to understand, but it was quite interesting to dress her up. You need to remove the entire front bumper which consists of three main bolts on each side and a couple of small bolts that hold some other bits and pieces to the bumper. If your XJ looks like mine, removing the 6 bumper bolts is easier said than done. After pulling out those bolts and removing the bumper, you should attach the hook mount to the frame between the bumper and the frame. The hook mount uses the same screw holes as the bumper and is a fairly tight fit, so you might need a couple of people to get the bumper back into place. Also, I forgot to mention, attach the hooks to the bracket before attaching the bracket to the frame, that makes things easier. So you have the bumper bolts and then two more frame bolts to put in and you're done. This took a while for me, so be prepared for a small project. I think they look really nice on my jeep and the few times I've had to use them they come apart nicely. One of them was pulled pretty hard by the Ford F-150 so it's bent now, but they're very strong. The only reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 stars is because of the complexity of the installation.
