Very quiet. This was a problem as it is right above my bed and I have a fan running all night in the summer. The remote has large buttons, which is good, but it's hard to read the lettering as the lettering is just part of the button and isn't a different color. Also, the remote looks like it was designed in the 1980s. UPDATE: Downgrading my rating from 5 to 2 stars. After some use, the fan began to emit a noticeable pulsating hum, which is very noticeable when falling asleep. The most important feature of a fan in my bedroom is that it has to be very quiet. I could live with a very low hum if it was constant, but the pulsing hum is very annoying and now I have to turn the fan off at night. I live in Texas and it's summer now. Not good. I may need to replace that fan with something else.
