It does not sound when the door is opened.
This was purchased for a small office to notify us if someone is entering when we are not in front. Unfortunately this item does not work as advertised. The bell will not ring until the door is closed and the person is no longer in the room, defeating the purpose for which it is intended to be used. It was returned for a refund. Also, the wires are weak and poorly assembled.
