I bought these after wearing a pair of Trail Glove 4s which I really liked. I wanted a similar feel but with a little more cushioning, but the design of the shoe is definitely not the same (although a Merrell rep said they are very similar and have a thicker sole). They're less tight in the midfoot and heel, and the toe box is too thin on the outside - causing my little toes to rub when I run - compared to the TG4. The laces must be fed perfectly straight through the eyelets, otherwise they will rub against the back of the foot due to the thin tongue. I can't lace tighter or they hurt so my heel doesn't sit/stay tight in the shoe. minor traction issues (less than I expected after learning these are NOT Vibram brand soles) with no holes, tears etc that others have experienced but they only have maybe 70 miles. Photos I've seen of others seem to agree that the upper is torn where pinky toes rub. And then there's the creaking. EVERYONE. BLESSED. STEP. SPEECH! SPEECH! SPEECH!
