Review on NavePoint 15U Wall Mount Server Data Cabinet - 24-inch Depth with Glass Door, Lock and Key, and Casters: An Efficient Solution for Secure Data Storage by James Duffield

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A solid cabinet with a few small caveats to consider before you buy

I would actually rate this cabinet 4.5 stars if it were an option based on design and guidance. Overall, I'm happy with the device and would recommend it overall, albeit with caveats, which I list below. Since I wasn't able to view the wardrobe before purchasing it, I took the risk of ordering one. Ultimately, however, this cabinet meets my expectations and needs and looks good when loaded. Pros: The devices arrived well protected in a box in a box with all parts in perfect condition. The design is pretty straight forward and they at least made most of the parts symmetrical so there is no way to assemble the frame components in reverse order. With the exception of the back, the design exceeds my expectations for features and accessibility. Fully assembled but not inflated there is decent rigidity (wobbles just a little because the bolts hold it together) but inflating the unit increases rigidity. . I did a second pass after reassembly to re-tighten all the bolts which helped a lot with the stiffness. Although the package it comes in weighs over 70 pounds, once assembled (but empty) and moving the device doesn't feel heavy. I can say that a lot of thought went into the design of the entire closet. You might not like an aspect or two of it (see my cons below), but unless it's display limiters, you should be happy with the device as a whole. Disadvantages: back panel and assembly instructions The main disadvantage is the back panel. If there is a door on the front and smart slide latches on the sides for quick and easy removal, the back panel is screwed down with 6 screws. Even the homestead that the back panel fits into the closet is a challenge as you try to simultaneously hold, align, and screw the back panel, an operation you'll curse every time you open and close the back panel need to make changes to the content. The back design should have an easily removable panel as well as the sides. Removing the backplate is an option, but this renders top-mounted fans less efficient or useless as air is no longer drawn from the bottom of the cabinet over the contents to the top of the cabinet. The back is the main reason behind this device. doesn't get 5 stars. I need rear access to add/remove cables to components over time. When I checked the details of this unit before ordering, I never saw anything about the back panel being screwed on ie. it is not easy to remove and reattach. I didn't buy this unit to hang on the wall. I would welcome a better backplane implementation for non-wall mount applications that come in the box. As you'd expect everything comes in a flat box so assembly is required which took at least a couple of hours as the guide is missing the important first steps. The instructions were written by a person who is too familiar with assembling this cabinet, so many details are missing for the person assembling it for the first time (you). This is a blip as someone who doesn't know should attempt to assemble it using these instructions, then write down any questions they have during the process and then answer each one in the corrected instructions. too small and indistinct to make out the details needed to answer basic questions about how the two pieces fit together. For example, if the numbered rails are connected to the frame, there are two possible orientations, one of which will give you the correct 19" spacing if you measure it before bolting everything together. The other option will be slightly larger than 19 inches, but trust me when you assemble this one you will have the exact same question and wonder why the instructions just don't have an exploded close-up drawing. I took the extra time and figured it all out myself through trial and error.
