Review on πŸ–¨οΈ JGAURORA A5 305x305x320mm Filament Detection: Efficient 3D Printer with Enhanced Filament Control by Dwayne Pore

Smooth, easy assembly but gave me problems.

Mixed feelings about this printer. It's not necessarily a bad printer, set up was very easy, it took 15 minutes to print, so that's a plus. The quality of the printouts was good and I didn't have too many problems. The bed is good but I would have preferred it not being glued to the aluminum heating plate so I can swap it out if I feel like it or need it for certain materials and that the leveling screws are part of the heating bed that are not can be replaced, a bit annoying, my first one had the leveling screws snapped out of the heatbed when I got it. The semi-automatic bed leveling is beautiful and makes bed leveling super easy. The bed leveling knobs are a pain, very little. Replacing the filament is kind of a pain, you have to use the screen and pull it in until it comes out, and doing it with the screen is very inconsistent. I can retract a certain amount once, but the next time I try to change filament, it won't reach nearly the same degree of retraction to remove the filament, also making it difficult to feed a new filament. I just love that I can do it by hand with my CR-10. You can't insert a script to change filament at height that works if you don't use Octopi, that really annoys me, especially since in the middle of printing I found that the printer is locked, not responding, printing failed. What finally made me come back is that when I pulled the filament in to replace it with a new one, the extruder stopped working and the fan on the hot end shut off, there was a smell of hot electronics. I turned the printer off and on again, the fan started working but the extruder still didn't respond. This was the second printer as the first came out of the heatbed with the screws stripped out. I really wanted to like this printer and it seems like most people have had good luck with their printer. It was quick to put together, was very smooth and I was hoping just typing it while updating and making changes to my CR-10 would be enough, but it didn't and I had to send it back as well.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
