I think that's another sign of aging. That's why I got this little light from me. After I put in my last three AAA batteries, I turned it on and the lamp is really bright. A magnifying glass is strong and big enough for most purposes. The two hinges were a bit sloppy so I tightened the small Phillips head screws and now those connections stay open on their own. The little lid on top remains sloppy but seems to work well. Since it's a bit bigger than an old flip phone, it also fits in my pocket when I need to use it outside the home. The label on the base says "Precision Quilting Tools" so I suspect the company will repurpose it for us. People who don't do quilting or precision or anything else. The overall design uses three hinges and allows for several different configurations making it useful in a variety of situations. This is a very good buy for $13.
