I assumed most of the great reviews on here were fake but decided to give the product a try anyway given the beautiful design and low price. 1-3 minutes to boil water is definitely inaccurate. I don't understand why they claim it when it's clearly false. It took 5 minutes to boil room temperature water with a full kettle. It's still very good, but it's definitely not what they claim it is. Surprisingly, it took about 4.5 minutes to get half a kettle to 193F. Also, the unit stalled at 183 degrees during each heating cycle, only staying there for about a minute. You will then hear it turn back on and continue to heat up. Not a big deal, but I'm wondering if this is just low quality hardware. The biggest hurdle is the lack of temperature accuracy. I tried betting on 193 twice. The water was about 201-202 each time (used a digital thermometer to check). Bought this block for the accuracy, so without it it's pointless. There are less expensive ways to just boil water if that's all you need. I decided to spend twice as much to buy an Oxo Kettle and so far so good. The temperature accuracy is between 0 and 1 degree, and the boiling time of a full kettle is 3.5 minutes for comparison.
