In all my years of weightlifting, running and various other sports, including the Navy, I never had a knee injury other than a bout of bursitis while in top school. And then one night a few months ago, I rolled over and pulled my left knee up as I was wiggling my butt in Brazilian dance class. Holy shit, that hurts! I stopped immediately as the butt was shaking and came home, put ice on it and then wrapped it up. After a few days everything was fine. At least, that's what I thought. Since then, running or doing a glove (the stair-climbing version of the treadmill) or going to a Brazilian dance has hurt again. Worse than the first time. It also hurts when I sit cross-legged or keep them angled while sleeping. It started to hurt when I was on my feet all day at work, sometimes going up and down 14 foot stairs. I have an old school neoprene knee wrap that the Navy gave me a long time ago during a bursitis attack, but while it offers some support, it actually does more harm than good. This knee brace is much better. It offers support without constriction and enough compression to help with swelling and subsequent pain. I can wear it to the gym as well as to work as it doesn't bulk under my leggings or jeans. I should add that I went as directed and measured the circumference of the knee to determine the correct size for me. My knee is 15 1/2 inches down the middle which means I should have gotten it a large size, but got a medium size instead as I know the material will stretch with time and use becomes. It was a good choice as the average size fits just right. I think a big one would be too big. So my suggestion is to measure your knee and if you fall in the lower size range, downsize one. When it comes to compression stockings, tight ones are better than loose ones. I've read some other reviews and I have to say I don't see how anyone can complain about this bandage "unrolling". top to bottom on the side? It's on both sides and it's a strip of flexible plastic bone encased in a material. Like the "bone" used in corsets, they offer stiffness, but they are allowed to flex at the knee joint itself, and that stiffness makes it almost impossible for this brace to roll, especially since it has maybe a quarter of an inch of material at the top. So I have no idea which knee pad these reviewers were reviewing, but this isn't the one. It's not a patella. So if you have knee problems due to a patella (patella) deformity or patellar tendinitis, this brace may not be for you as it does not put direct pressure on the patella or its tendons. . It provides comprehensive support and compression of the knee joint. It reduces and/or limits swelling in and/or around the joint, which in turn helps relieve pain caused by the swelling. Like all special bamboo charcoal and germanium fibers. I do not know. All I know is that my knee feels better in this sleeve while I'm at work or playing sports. The real test will of course be how it holds up while I shake my butt in Brazilian dance class, but my doctor has told me not to get back to it until I have an MRI, which is scheduled for next week to make sure that I didn't tear my meniscus. When walking, running, and climbing stairs, your knees move in the sagittal plane, rotational and/or lateral (lateral) movements force you to work in the transverse or frontal plane and can cause more meniscal damage and tears, which may require surgery need for correction. For now, this knee brace and I'm ready to get to work, including the silly up and down stairs, as well as my usual running, glove, dumbbell, and yoga workouts. Of course I hope I haven't torn a ligament or meniscus and I REALLY hope I don't need knee surgery any time soon. But if I do, I'm sure I'll wear this knee brace afterwards to reduce swelling and help with healing.
