Good as New

I have the vinyl version of this record and loved it so much when it was new I would have raped it if I hadn't put it on cassette sooner. Therefore my LP is in excellent condition. When I finally found his CD it was only available as a Japanese import and I paid almost $30 for it and the same as PHANTASMAGORIA (I still have three Curved Air vinyls in my permanent collection). I'm happy to spend money on something this good when expensive imports are all I can get. Music? Well the comments above should tell you how awesome I think this is. This is one of the greatest psychedelic albums of all time along with AIR CONDITIONING and PHANTASMAGORIA. None of Curved Air's other albums are as great as these three albums, the best of which is SECOND ALBUM by far (although I've noticed others disagree). "Piece Of Mind", the last track of over twelve minutes, is a marvel, as are "Jumbo" and "Puppets". These songs remind me of Pink Floyd, Moody Blues, Yes, Jean Michel Jarre and Mike Oldfield, all with hints of It's A Beautiful Day and Zephyr. In other words, it's a wall of sound, full of influences and quite original at the same time. Swirling electronics, ethereal vocals, pounding rhythms and constant, unexpected twists and turns make this a cosmic, captivating piece of catchy tune. It sounds as fresh to me today as it did when it was new. If synths aren't your thing then this CD probably won't convince you, but if you like really intense, eclectic mixes of sounds and like experimental yet melodic music, this might be your choice.

Pros
  • Progressive Rock
Cons
  • Big and Bulky
