This sink was installed by my husband as a birthday present, not a plumber (lawyer). I wanted something tall and flat to replace the 13 inch sculpt tray that came with the house. When brushing your teeth or washing your face, who needs depth? But when you're rinsing your face with 20 squirts of clean water, you REALLY need a surface. Now I don't clean the soaked table every time I wash my face. I also received the suggested Serine faucet which is a dream come true. Of course, my husband had to work in a very small space, but it was worth it. It has a great modern look in our master bathroom and I'm now working on getting it transitioned to the same bowl and faucet so we can match. I won't even tell you how much my cat loves it.
