Review on Flojet 18555-000A Portable RV Waste Pump with Garden Hose 🚍 Discharge Port - 12 VDC Motor - Enhanced SEO-friendly Product Title! by Ron Coleman

Problematic and unreliable.

With a special 12 V, 20 A power pack, the motor does not jump by itself. The light is dimmed, the motor simply does not turn. Press the power button and you will feel a slight twitch from the grinder body, but nothing more. I accidentally got it to work by using a drill to turn the groove on the bottom of the motor shaft (to drain the black water already in the pipes) while it was on. Then he can work independently. When I first started using this method it seemed to do the job pretty well. Not for long. Shutting the engine off meant I had to use a cordless drill to restart it every time I needed to empty the tanks. It seemed like 12V just wasn't enough for the motor in this helicopter. But when it comes to RVs, you have 12V and 120V. Nothing in between, mostly. Unfortunately, my weekly duty of emptying the holding tank ended after about a month of more work: the unit just wouldn't start, even with a drill. The hose was clean, there were no blockages in the impeller. I always made sure to flush the entire setup after draining the black water tank so nothing I did would cause the engine to seize up as it is. This time he seemed completely dead. Funny thing about RV setups like this. You have no way of dumping what's in the line after opening the black water tank valves without spilling enough sewage if your pump is busted like mine. at least not without turning the motor shaft by hand with a cordless drill/driver. At least for an hour. In all honesty, your best bet is to get some 3" gas hoses, find a trash remover that also has a 3" inlet, and make your own 120v grinder that can handle heavy grinding work. These portable devices are a nuisance at best. Google "diy black water macerator" and look for a steampunk workshop link. This should be sold for an RV, not the weaker 12 volt "portables".

Pros
  • Motor: 12 VDC permanent magnet, completely encapsulated, with stainless steel shaft
Cons
  • Outrageous price
