At first I thought I would NEVER use an e-collar. A friend of mine, a K9 sergeant at our local police department, told me that they use electronic collars to train all of their dogs and "electrocution" is not like sticking your finger in an outlet, it is more like friction. Your feet on the carpet and then touch the metal. Ted wrote this book so that almost everyone can understand it. It flows simply and understandably like a bell, even in his test videos he demonstrates everything from simple to what I will now call "somewhat" complex. Buying the right gear is the true test, and an even truer test is how committed we are as "dog lovers" / "dog owners" to our cause. Another feature of Ted is that if you have a question and email him, he usually responds within 48 hours. I've seen and met some good dog trainers but Ted is a GREAT dog trainer and he even has a number of videos that you can buy too. My 17 month old German Shepherd (Jem) sits next to me, gets off, releases toys on command, can continue walking off leash, leaves a pack of 7-10 dogs on my command and plays with dogs of all sizes without aggression, thanks to a good training e-collar from Ted's book.
