Airplane kits that kids love
My kid screamed "You are the best dad in the world" when he saw the plane. She loves paper airplanes but recently switched to corkwood and now a foam airplane. The plane is well calibrated, flies straight, is solid and the lights feel nice. If I had one wish on this point, it would be to hide the wires. They look a bit sloppy when stuck to the surface, but for $15, it's good value. Bonus - the wings look like airfoils so some good science talk for older kids here.... Not for my 4 year old though.
