I've used different types of iPhone car mounts since the iPhone 5. I've used "vent mounts" and "window mounts" but never a "CD player mount". I bought two of these, one for the Mercedes CLS class and one for the Mercedes GLE. The one for the GLE fits perfectly out of the box and I didn't have to "fiddle" with it at all and the mount is solid as a rock, doesn't wobble, bend or rattle. You can hang a bowling ball on it and you'll be fine. The one in my CLS is just as sturdy, but I had to tighten it somehow to avoid the little "lip" sticking out above the CD player. This little fiddling didn't bother me at all and the stability of this mount is just in its class compared to anything I've had before. I use an iPhone 12 Pro Max and also have a 4 credit card case so it's basically the heaviest phone you've ever tried to attach to the mount. The magnets on this mount are more than strong enough to hold this phone with ease. This mount wins unconditionally. It also comes with an air vent attachment system that looks solid, but I haven't tested it.
