We used to teach our dogs to tell us to go outside by ringing one of those old-fashioned table bells. It worked, but growing up in big houses it was difficult now to hear that bell everywhere. With a new puppy we decided to upgrade and I'm glad we did. The nice thing is that you can plug the handset into any outlet in the house, so you can always hear the ringing. In the middle we hear it everywhere, but it's nice to be able to take it into the bedroom at night and turn it down so it doesn't wake up the whole house. You really just have to plug it in and unplug it, it's that simple. The only issue I had was that the instructions said you could change the music selection and volume by pressing the appropriate buttons, but there weren't any Reference to where these buttons were located on the device and took me a few minutes to figure it out. I've circled them in the photo for convenience. There really are 36 ringtones! The dog we've already trained switched to the button with no problem and it's actually better for his paw. Sometimes she had a hard time hitting the tiny tinkle of table bells. I like this option very much. A good product.
