No, really that bright. The lighting in my apartment is so sad, so dim and I suspect our landlord wants it. Mood light is good but seriously I want to be able to see everything at night and this light is the right choice. One of these lamps could probably illuminate half of our apartment better than the current lighting. Unfortunately I'm having trouble using them because I live in an apartment so it's hard to have things a certain way, but I'll find a way! They're also pretty easy to use, I had to do a bit of googling and asking around, but the end turned out to be a lot easier than I first thought.
