The first few fan bearings made a little noise. A slight rumble that mostly faded over time but was still audible when standing next to the car. The exchange was even worse. The fan ran smoothly without a filter, but add a filter and some resistor and oh my. he thundered like a maraca. Definitely not quiet or anywhere near. I put it in a room with good air quality, but it's by far the dustiest room in the house. After a few weeks of use, I don't see any visible accumulation of dust in the filter. Much still accumulates on furniture and sticks to the front of the computer. I think time will tell. A big disappointment so far.
