Closed box acoustic design provides better bass quality (not quantity), which is important for music, makes it easier to choose the installation location (allows installation close to the wall). The built-in DSP builds a "flat shelf" on the frequency response up to the cutoff frequency (for subwoofers without DSP, the frequency response is humpbacked), which joins the sub very well with any acoustics: shelf and floor.
