Doesn't maximize speed CFExpress

A bit of a waste as this reader seems to max out at 700MB/s while the card is rated for up to 1700+ MB/s. This was tested using a Delkin CFExpress Power 128GB card with a Thunderbolt 3 connector on a 2021 MacBook Air and a Thunderbolt 3 cable. I can't think of anything else that could be changed to increase transfer speed. The aluminum main body feels solid, but the soft plastic door is so soft and pliable it almost feels like rubber. I assume it will break at some point.
