I ordered this awning and hoped for the best with delivery. When it arrived, it looked like the tube in which the awning and parts were shipped was dropped on one end as it was dented in quite badly. However, the rest of the tube looked okay, so I annotated the damaged end of the tube and accepted the shipment. When I opened the tube, the first thing I found was that the Awning Rail was bent. That did not matter as I had one preinstalled on my RPod 179. The second thing I noticed was that the plastic covering for the roll and heads was abraded. Whether that happened before it was put in the tube or while it was in shipment is something I can't say. The third thing that I noticed was that there were only two of the #10 - 16 x 3/4" Hex Washer Head Self Drilling screws instead of the four specified in te instruction manual. There was one extra set screw.I used Lexel clear sealant instead of butyl tape for installing the Access Plates. It was recommended by someone else who had installed one of these slide-out covers. After letting it cure for about 24 hours, I had a friend help me with the rest of the installation. I followed the instructions to spray the inside of the channel with silicone spray and the fabric fed in easily. We got it fastened in place as it was getting dark. We tested it and were done for the night.Today I came out to look at it in the daylight. It was then that I noticed what is shown in the pictures. While the fabric is properly centered on the slide-out, the fabric is off-center on the roll. I have a support question in to Lippert to see if this is normal or a defect. It does look a little odd, but it works okay. One other fault visible in daylight is that the end of the roller is scratched. This is probably associated with the damage I saw to the white plastic cover where it was abraded. It does not affect functionality, but does affect appearance. It should not be scratched up like that. It is not bad enough to ask for a warranty replacement, but it will need to be touched up so that the metal that is exposed will be protected. I circled the scratched areas in the photos. One other thing that was difficult was releasing the pins. They were a little bent, so they did not want to pull out easily. It took some work to get them out. If pins are going to be used for this purpose, they need to be strong enough to hold the tension without bending so they can be removed easily when the time comes to do so.With the exception of the issues noted, I am happy with this purchase. I have considered doing this for some time. I had previously made a slide-out topper but that required me to climb a ladder to install and remove it each time. This will eliminate the need to do so.
