I bought this for camping and power outages. Testing on my Toyota Vibe with the engine idling, I was able to turn the heater on at 900 watts, but above that the voltage dropped and the battery began to drain. No overheating even after turning on the heater at 1500W for 15 minutes. Turning the heater on and off caused no noticeable voltage or change in idle speed. I would estimate that I would use 1/3 gallon of gas per hour as others have reported. 900 watts of continuous power is enough for what I need, like the fridge and freezer. I would advise getting a heavy duty (12 gauge) extension cord for your home. Less expensive than a quiet (sinusoidal) gas generator and more compact to store. A peak power of 1500w/3000 might be an exaggeration but I wanted to make sure it could start and deliver 1/3 horsepower. Suction pump if necessary Don
